Released for 2005, the sixth-generation Corvette kept its predecessor’s proportions but featured an updated exterior design with exposed headlights returning to the range for the first time since 1962. In 2006, the high-performance Z06 variant was added to the range, and it was celebrated as the fastest and most powerful street-legal car ever released by General Motors. It gained a mammoth V8 with titanium connecting rods, aluminum and carbon fiber components to keep weight in check, and a wider track. The C6 Z06 would be the last naturally aspirated iteration of the Z06.

General Motors goal was to produce 500 examples of the Z06 Carbon Special Edition to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Corvette’s first entry in the 24 Hours of Le Mans race. GM fell short of that number and only produced 252 examples, with this car being #81 of the 252 produced.

Power comes from a 7.0-liter LS7 V8, rated at 505 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. Output is sent to the rear wheels via a 6-speed manual transmission.
